My Top 5 FREE Web Tools/Technologies:

I’ve been sitting looking blankly at my computer trying to think of all the exciting “new” tools and Technology that I have been using and it dawned on me that I am slightly behind the times-I have read all your brilliant input and realized that I had never heard of the majority of the tools you referred to (however I will be trying some of them out after this). My top 5 FREE Web Tools/Technologies that I use ALL the time -not very exciting but for me essential.

1.VIBER: I think viber is AMAZING and would use it almost every day. It has free texting, calling, photo messages, group chats. It is integrated with your own call list so there is no messing around. It can be used on almost all technology now from the mobile phone, desktop, tablet etc. so you can use it on the go as long as you have a good 3G connection or Wi-Fi. I use this as both a way to keep in contact with different groups of friends collectively so all my friends in that group are involved in the conversation. Also more importantly I use it to keep in touch with family and friends in Australia for free where if I was using a land line or my phone the costs would be crazy. so this allows me to stay in contact more regular because I don't have huge bills at the end of each call.

2. SNAPCHAT: I only recently got into the whole buzz of snap chat and to be honest I am still trying to get used of it( I have a younger brother in college and I know more about him now through snapchat now than I ever did before from his countless snaps). With Snapchat you can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to a controlled list of recipients. These sent photographs and videos are known as "Snaps". Users set a time limit for how long recipients can view their Snaps (I think it’s up to 10 seconds)after which they will be hidden from the recipient's device and deleted from Snapchat's servers. Snapchat Stories allows me to create links of shared content that can be viewed an unlimited number of times over a 24-hour period. The "stories" are simultaneously shared with all my friends and story remains for 24 hours before disappearing

3.Online banking: Could actually not live without online banking and I do not know how anyone survived without it before. I love the fact that it cuts out the middle person, I can use it anywhere if I’m at home or if I’m out and about. I use it for paying my bills, rent, topping up my phone ,topping up other peoples phone(poor student siblings) managing my money and it allows me to keep on top of everything without having to endure the stress of queues. There is a handy function on the Ulster Bank app where if you have an issue where you actually do need to talk to a “Human” there is a messaging service where you type in your question and you get a response almost immediately. This is the kind of technology that helps make life that little bit easier for the customer who wants to do their banking at the click of a button.

4. WHATSAPP MESSENGER:WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. It is available for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia. In addition to basic messaging WhatsApp users can create groups, send each other unlimited images, video and audio media messages. I rarely use standard text message anymore and most my friends and family use WhatsApp as a method of fast FREE communication.

5.PHOTO EDITOR PRO: I love using my phone or tablet for taking pictures and sometimes they don’t turn out as good as id like them to. I found the photo editor pro to be very useful and a fun way to enhance my photos for free. It allows me to illuminate dark rooms, produce hi definition pictures, add effects, crop, focus, contrast and then you can save it and print as usual. I downloaded this for free from the play store on my android and I think it’s brilliant.
